All Durham Schools are being invited to take part in the ECO₂ Smart Schools Climate Conference to learn about how schools from around the world are experiencing and adapting to climate change. Through this event, we’re hoping to produce guidance on how all schools can become a ‘Let’s Go Zero‘ School. Durham County Council’s Energy Management SLA schools can take part in this event for free.
Schools that sign up for the ECO₂ Smart Schools Climate Conference will be paired up with an overseas school and provided with an education pack. The pack will guide and empower your KS2 and KS3 pupils to learn about your partner country’s experiences of and their response to climate change under the UN Climate Change Conference themes of adaptation & mitigation, nature, transport, energy, and finance.
You will then work with your partner school’s pupils to explore their knowledge and personal experiences of climate change. Finally, each school will be challenged to think about what it means to be a ‘Let’s Go Zero’ School and encouraged to share their current climate change actions. To enable effective partnering, if your school already has a link with a school in another country, please let us know!
