Audit of school voluntary funds

Under our Scheme for the Financing of Schools ‘any voluntary or private school funds held by schools must be subject to audit procedures and annual certification. Such audit statements must be presented to governing bodies on an annual basis and to the authority if requested’.

We are able to do an audit of voluntary fund(s) held in school certified by a Chartered Accountant. We will:

  • do a full independent scrutiny of supporting records against your prepared annual statement of accounts for each voluntary fund to ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of the transactions over the period
  • follow the audit up with a covering report to the head teacher which may contain recommendations on improvements which could be made
  • certify the annual statement (done by a Chartered Accountant) which can then be formally presented to the governing body

Duration of SLA

One year

Period covered

Aligned to the annual reporting period for the fund(s).

Period of notice

None

Charges

We offer a competitive rate, based upon size and complexity of fund(s) maintained and on the expectation that an Annual Statement of Income and Expenditure has been prepared.

For any fund that does not have the annual statement prepared, we still may be able to undertake the audit, however this would be dependent on work required and would need to be reflected in our charge.
