Throughout the 2024/25 academic year, the Commercial Services team has proudly supported DurhamWorks, working in partnership with Sally Johnson from the Work Related Learning Programme to help prepare young people for the world of work.
As part of our ongoing social value commitment, team members have been actively involved in a range of pre-employability and careers initiatives across County Durham. These engagements have included mock interviews, speed networking, workshops, and careers events, all aimed at building students’ confidence, improving their communication skills, and giving them valuable insight into real-world career scenarios.
The Commercial Services Team stated:
“It has been a pleasure meeting the amazing students at the schools, all with inspiring ambitions for the future – we are incredibly proud to be part of this initiative and look forward to continuing this important work in the academic year ahead.”
DurhamWorks is an inclusive programme that works with a diverse range of young people across County Durham, helping remove barriers that may prevent them from entering the workplace. These sessions not only equip students with essential employability skills but also demonstrate Commercial Services’ dedication to supporting local communities and empowering future talent.
If your school is interested in getting involved in the DurhamWorks Programme for Years 10 and 11, please contact Sally.Johnson@durham.gov.uk for more information.
