Durham County Council has introduced two new safety glazing inspection services to help schools and academies ensure glazing installations remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.
Initial Safety Glazing Inspection
This inspection assesses the condition and suitability of glazing installed throughout your site. It includes guidance on safety glazing placement requirements and identifies areas where safety glass may be required but is not currently present. Schools will receive practical advice to help ensure compliance and reduce the risk of injury from unsuitable glazing.
Annual Safety Glazing Inspection
The annual inspection provides a visual examination of glazing installations to identify potential issues such as cracks, leaks, gaps, or signs of deterioration. Regular monitoring helps maintain the quality and effectiveness of glazing systems, reducing the likelihood of future problems and ensuring the safety of building users.
