New Compliance Services Available – Fire Door Inspections

Fire door inside of building

To help schools and academies maintain safe and compliant premises, Durham County Council (DCC) is now offering two new fire door inspection services.

Initial Fire Door Inspection and Tagging

This service provides a comprehensive inspection of fire doors across your site. Each door will be assessed, tagged, and its condition recorded, with advice provided on any maintenance or remedial works required. The inspection offers assurance that your fire doors are fit for purpose and capable of providing the level of fire protection required.

Annual Fire Door Inspection

Regular inspections are essential to ensure that everyday use does not affect the integrity or performance of fire doors. DCC’s annual inspection includes checks of door frames, intumescent seals, hinges, closers, and other key components to ensure doors continue to operate correctly and provide effective fire compartmentation. This proactive approach helps identify issues early and supports ongoing compliance with fire safety requirements.
