Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust good news story

Two builders looking at construction plansOur Corporate Property and Land team is thrilled to announce that following a rigorous competitive tender process, we have been successfully re-awarded the Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust (BCCET) Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) contract.

Both BCCET and ourselves are delighted to see the continuation of the strong partnership which has been forged over the past 5 years.

The contract covers building compliance (servicing) and repairs, and maintenance activities across all 30 existing trust schools.

The new PPM contract provides both organisations with an opportunity to meet our mutual social, environmental and ethical values whilst securing employment for local people in the council and through our local supply chains. Further training and social value opportunities will be realised over the life of the contract, with an opportunity to build on previous work in upskilling trust staff and providing valuable opportunities for students.

As public sector organisations, we recognise the enormous pressure facing school budgets, and continuing our collaboration to achieve best value through the contract ensures vital school funds can be focused on delivering outstanding education to children and young people.

John Hallam, our Property Partnerships and Innovation Manager said “We are delighted to have been entrusted with BCCET’s PPM contract for a further term.  The relationships and depth of understanding of BCCET’s bespoke requirements we established during the previous contract have allowed us the opportunity to further develop our offer and provide an excellent, innovative approach to PPM across the entire BCCET educational estate.  We look forward to enhancing these services, our people, and our partners further through the new contract and explore ways of assisting the trust in providing excellent education to young people across the east of the region”.

Paul Harrison, BCCET’s Head of Service said “We’re pleased to renew our partnership with Durham County Council following a rigorous competitive process. This PPM contract helps keep our schools safe, warm, dry and fully compliant while delivering best value, supporting local jobs and creating opportunities for our staff and students”.
