Above and Beyond

Throughout the pandemic, schools, settings, children and young people have gone ‘Above and Beyond’ with their creativity and innovation. Our Education Durham team are keen to capture some of the creative projects and innovative ways of working that have been demonstrated so well to celebrate and share these county-wide.

During World Creativity and Innovation Week (WCIW), which runs from 15 – 21 April 2021, Education Durham will be releasing daily video showcases that highlight some of the best practice across the County. We have received over 70 submissions for this project, with ideas ranging from slow cookers being purchased for families to cook healthy meals and children delivering care packages to vulnerable members of the community to live doorstep gigs. These will be all be shared here on our website.

Education Durham advisers have also teamed up with the WCIW team in Miami to share these videos on a global platform. This means that some of our schools and settings will be showcased alongside 80+ other countries around the world. We warmly encourage all schools and settings to watch our showcases, which will be shared at 2.00pm each day. We will also be revealing details of how you and your school/setting can get involved in our 2022 showcase, preparations for which will begin in the summer term.
