The heating pipework at Beamish Primary was in the region of 50 years old and had begun to spring leaks in places. The original pipework was located in ducts beneath the floor, in damp conditions, which allowed the pipe to deteriorate.
The new pipework is run at high level within the school, and any pipework which drops to low level is ‘boxed’ to prevent damage. New radiators and convector heaters have been installed throughout the School to provide a more effective and efficient heating system.
A new heating pump has also been installed within the plant room to match the characteristics of the new heating system.
