As part of the Wider Leisure Transformation Programme Abbey Leisure Centre recently re-opened to the public following the extensive refurbishment works managed by Construction Consultancy Service (CCS) in collaboration with Alliance, Axciom, ISG and GT3.
“The new centre boasts the impressive revamped gym installed with the latest Technogym equipment, including cardio equipment, power racks, leg presses and brand-new screens available to guide members working towards their fitness goals”
The new cycling studios can join in virtual classes, personally tracked sessions or instructor led classes. Members can track their progress as the equipment is linked to the Technogym App.
There is a brand-new café and adventure play area with activities such as soft play, trampolines and TAG zone challenges, perfect for wearing out the little ones on a rainy day. It is also available for party bookings.
The reception and changing areas have also been refurbished as part of the construction works.
Max Clough, a child who attends the leisure centre Adventure play regularly provided us with some very positive feedback on the facilities and Cllr Amanda Hopgood has reported that she was delighted with the progress and the product delivered at Abbey Leisure Centre and has put on record her praise of the project with Cabinet members and CMT.

Reception
The receptionist is very kind and always chats to me as soon as I walk up. I’ve also noticed that they always solve booking problems as soon as possible!
Soft play
The pillars in the soft play are fabulously cushioned because when I bump into them I get knocked back and carry on playing. The soft play is designed perfectly so children can play happily! My favourite is the green slide on the second floor in the tag game.
